Owner, founder, butcher and chef Heath Dixon arrived in the UK in 2008 and opened the first Biltong & Bangers location in Southampton that same year. Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and a resident of South Africa for over 30 years, Heath brings a vast knowledge of authentic, traditional South African preparation methods to the market. As a successful chef running award-winning restaurants, including product development for major labels, Heath’s passion for his craft and attention to detail, taste, and texture is good as it gets – and you’ll taste it in the first bite. As one of our favourite customers once put it, if Elvis was the King of Rock, Heath is the King of Meat. Apart from the Biltong & Bangers fresh, house-made range (Biltong, Drywors, Boerewors, Snapsticks, and fresh-cut meat range) we also sell hundreds of imported South African grocery products including spices, chutneys, biscuits, canned goods, soft drinks, candy/confectionery, spirits, wine, beer and cider --- as well as imported exotic meats, and much more.
Our Bournemouth (Moordown) shop opened its doors in 2018, taking us to a total of two shops plus our online store.
